How I Know I am getting OLD...

I don't know about you, but the older I get, the more adult--like I become.  I know that sounds like life...and I get that.  But I mean it is more than responsibility and such.  Things that would have been a part of my life 10 years ago now ANNOY me to the very end of my being.
Case in point.  Monday night I went to the Ohio State Fair to see a country music concert.  Who was playing you may ask? The Mr. Justin Moore...swoon.  His voice is one that I do not get tired of--he is one of the rare performers that I can put on shuffle for a long car ride and never skip a song.  Plus he has that deep side of his voice that could seriously sing me to sleep.  Anyways, obsession aside this was my fourth time to see Justin on stage.  A few years back he toured with Darius Rucker and Brad Paisley and I barely knew who he was.  Correction. I did not know who he was--however when he sang Small Town USA I recognized it.  That is where my love affair begin.  Since then I have seen him headline his own tour and open up for Mr. Blake Shelton in LAS VEGAS! Whoop.  So going into Monday night I was excited to see him on stage again and to be headlining because he is one of those real singers whot do not flood their shows with talking and crap. He sings. For two hours he sings. Beautiful.

Now in my defense I had not been to a state fair concert since I was in 3rd grade when I waited outside all day long with my mom, brother, and cousin to see the fabulous boy band better known as NKOTB. Haha.  So I wasn't too sure what the venue would be like so many years later.

One reason I know that I am getting old is....I believe concert venues should not be sold in sections by number (example 112, 113, 114, etc.).  They should be sold in sections determined upon the type of person who is attending said event.  Examples: a) I am actually here for the music, b) I am young, dumb, annoying and do not care if I get kicked out, c) I am here to slow dance with my lover and make out incessantly during slow songs, d) I am in 4H and thought a concert would be fun, e) I am at a concert? I came for the drinks, f) We are family, I got all my sisters with me, g) Bachelorette/Bachelor Parties, h) I am probably going to jail later, i) I love a good show, and j) I am obsessed with this artist and want to touch their hand.

Those categories would make life so much easier, right? I mean me, I was there for the music, I love Justin Moore, I love country music, and I went to have a good night with my friend Jen.  I did not go to sit behind girls who were not of the legal drinking age that hit up the local parking lot for HOURS before coming into the arena.  I did not come to stand beside and behind, and in front of love birds who again are not of the legal age as they slow dance and make out.  I also did not come to be behind a family of three where the dad was so annoyed with previously mentioned girl group that you could smell his anger.  I went for the music.  I went to appreciate my favorite genre, put my boots on, and have a good night.

So if you work for a ticket distributor maybe you should take my advice.  Start selling tickets for the types of people who come.  Until not be mistaken, I thoroughly enjoyed the concert.  I had to rise above my age and throw my arms up in order to belt every song Justin sang--including his FORTY FIVE MINUTE encore---without his band, just him and his guitar. Again I swoon.

Until next time...

Go Shorty...It's Your Birthday!

Man oh man, I have to say that this was actually a good birthday.  I had found myself dreading my birthday this year, kinda put me in a funk type mood.  But yesterday turned out way better than I could have expected and I have some special people to thank for that.

First of all, I share my day with my mom's only sister, Kathy, or as I called her Aunt Kacky.  I was always her birthday present, which made shopping really easy for me! ;) Ever since she passed away celebrating has not been the same.  It definitely feels like something is missing on OUR day.  But I know that she is sitting on a proverbial cloud somewhere with my Granny June and maybe even my dad, having a good time watching down on all of us.  So of course my mom made sure she was represented on my ice cream cake--yum!

My mom and Henry spoiled me during the day while we had cake and just hung out!  Then it was time to get all dolled up and go to Columbus for some girl time!

I wore my new dress from Hazel & Olive! I am in love with it.  It is so girlie, dainty, and just so pretty. We all look pretty good when we get cleaned up, huh?

These three ladies made my day great.  A big thank you to them for making me feel special!  It is easier to get older when you are surrounded by friends!

It was also a night of desserts.  I am not a big dessert person but when it is your birthday you should indulge right?  We couldn't pass up free chocolate covered strawberries!  Look at those little tuxedo ones...too cute! We also told the waiter it was by birthday so he hooked us up with two plates of more desserts. It all was so good!  We were spoiled for the evening for sure!

These girls know me all too well too!  Look at my new favorite shirt EVER.  Jen stalked my Pinterest--so clever--and got me this baseball tee that says Trucks, Cowboys, & Country Music.  Perfection.  I also received some cute bow earrings, a fun bracelet, a cute top from Express, a new Kenneth Cole clutch, and a portable speaker for my iPhone (my dog got me that, isn't he smart?).  All in all, it was a great day.  I am off to go shopping with my momma today to continue celebrating and then meeting my brother for dinner.  Who says you cannot celebrate for more days than one?  And who knows...this great birthday may just leave me excited for the next one! Hope you are all having a great Wednesday!

Once a Bobcat, Always a Bobcat...

...even ten years later :)

Kristen, Kate, Me, Lori, & Emily
It is insane to say (out loud for that matter) that we graduated from Ohio University TEN years ago! I do not know what is more difficult to come to terms with: a--that I have been teaching for 10 years and living the life of a somewhat responsible adult or b--that I am not frolicking down the brick roads of Athens, Ohio with my friends without a care in the world anymore.  I will probably go with B if you were wondering.

One of my roomies from OU and her hubby hosted our lil reunion this past weekend in Pittsburgh, PA.  While not everyone was able to make the trip, it was SO good to see everyone who did.  We even busted out some mixed CDs that I found in my CD collection with the dates from when we were living off campus.  There were songs we remembered, songs we still knew the words to, and songs that made us laugh.  It is so fun to reminisce and go back to our younger days!

Kristen and I
My birthday is tomorrow so Kristen even got me a lil cake to celebrate!  I may or may not have requested it be at the party, lol. It was so cute, tiny, and yummy--and the icing ended up all over my face by the end of the night somehow (Thanks to my friend Bryan!).

So even though we are busy living in the "real world" this weekend taught me we are always ready and willing to recall the silliness of the old days and of course wanting those days to be back where we were young and carefree.  Luckily one of our friends is getting married this fall so we will be back together in 4 short weeks for the bachelorette party!

I'm linking up today with Sami for Weekend Shenanigans! You should too!

Country Music, Boots, and Pick Up Trucks

It is FRIDAY once again.  This week actually went exceptionally fast and I am down to only having two weeks before heading back into my classroom.  Today I am linking up with Lauren for High Five for Friday to celebrate the awesomeness that was my weekend last week!

Last weekend I had THE best weekend to date.  I got to travel to my dream city of Nashville, Tennessee to just indulge in country music, cowboy boots, and girls fun.  For as long as I can remember Nashville has been the city where I wanted to be--why I haven't made it my mission to visit more frequently I do not know.  This was my third time visiting the fabulous city and I got to go with three of my girlfriends.  We packed up my SUV and headed to the land of cowboys and music to just let loose and have a good boot stompin' good time.

We decided to stay at the Opryland hotel which I had stayed at previously.  It is a gorgeous resort that almost makes you feel like you are on a cruise ship.  And even though we spent our time sleeping at the Opryland, we really spent the majority of our trip on music row---down on Broadway.  My favorite part about Nashville in general is that no matter where you walk in, no matter the time of day, there is live music. I LOVE IT and we soaked it all up as much as we could all weekend!

Here we are at the Opryland before heading down to Broadway for the evening!

At the Wild Horse Saloon where we line danced :)

Just me at the Wild Horse Saloon...gosh I just love my boots!

The band at Whiskey Bent on Friday night was Whiskey Dawn.  I was immediately smitten.  I have already Facebook and Instagram stalked them...and may or may not have bought the album!

For some reason, horse statues are everywhere in Nashville ;) and we managed to take our picture with them all of the time! :)

On our way out to Broadway for Saturday night!

We started at Wild Horse Saloon again.  We really found places we loved and stuck with them. :)

We met this cowboy from Texas and he taught me how to two-step.  It was SO MUCH FUN.

The band that caught our eye on Saturday night was led by Michael Scott.  He has his own app--which he talked about a lot. Check him out, he was fun.

Oh and good ole Honest Abe showed up eventually :)

Ardell False Eyelash Look Book

I know it has been about a month since my last post--what can I say? Summer has been a tad busy for me.  I have gone on two vacations (Vegas and Emerald Isle, NC--recaps to come!).  I also have been reading books, laying in the pool, and hanging out with my girlfriends!  I am even going to Nashville this Friday! Whoop whoop!

But anyways, a while back I got to talking to my bff Jennifer from high school, who just happens to also be my hair stylist.  We are Pinterest fanatics.  Whenever we see each other we are showing each other new Pins we have found and want to try, create, or find!  One thing we both had noticed that was lacking in the Pinterest world was a Pin dedicated to what different eyelashes actually look like on the eye--not just in the package.  I just started getting into wearing eyelashes for special occasions or outings and she uses them on brides a lot when doing their bridal make up.  However, shopping for eyelashes is a hard business! You may look at the package and think those are beautiful, but once you spend 30 minutes trying to get them on your eyes you learn that they are not the right shape, length, or look for you!  So we decided to create what we have been looking for on the world wide Pinterest web!  Without further adieu I bring you the Ardell False Eyelash Look Book...round 1!

This is my eye without false lashes.  I would say my lashes are pretty average--with the right mascara I can build them up to look present.  They are pretty straight and lack a good curl without a lot of mascara.  I also do not care to wear a ton of mascara so most of the time they look pretty non-existent.

The first time I wore false lashes I felt like you could see my eye makeup in better definition and I seriously got a ton of compliments.  The compliments were not like "Oh you have pretty lashes!"They were more about my eyes or my makeup but the lashes definitely brought them out.  I watched a ton of YouTube videos to learn how to apply them and to be honest I am not very good at it at all.  However for events like weddings and vacations (I seriously wore a pair every night in Vegas!) I do like to wear a pair to bring some focus to my eyes.

The 102 Demi lashes are definitely a more cool pair of lashes.  I like that they are more separated than other pairs.  It adds a little drama to the look.  Because of the separation I feel like they are more pointy than the others.  I could see myself wearing these to a show (musical, play, concert) or even a fun girls night out.  They felt natural on my eye and not heavy at all.  Out of the 6 pairs we are showcasing     today, this would be my second favorite pair!
The 101 Demi was the pair that I was most excited to try.  They just look glamorous in the package.  They are thick and basically have a perfect bend/curl.  They are the thickest I have ever tried on my lashes.  I have to admit that I was a little disappointed once they were on.  It was not like I didn't like them, but I just thought based on their look in the package that they were going to WOW me.  I think they add a symmetrical look to my eye which I do like.  They almost look well rounded if that makes sense.  They were not the lightest lashes I have worn, yet they weren't the heaviest either.  I wouldn't say they are my favorite pair of lashes, but I will definitely wear them on occasion--behind my new favorite lashes (see below)!
Oh Wispies, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways!  Hands down they are my favorite pair of the 6 I am showing you in this post.  In the package I thought they looked way too big for my eye.  It wasn't even a pair that I was excited for.  But then, like magic once they were on my eye.  I kept changing the angle of my face as I stared at my reflection in the mirror.  I wish my natural lashes looked like that.   Their weight is great too! I couldn't feel them on my eye!  I have already bought two new pairs for my upcoming girls trip.  Moral of these lashes: don't let the size in the package shy you away.  I thought the same thing and turns out I am a Wispies kinda gal!
This pair, with a delicate name like Babies,  I expected them to be even less noticeable because of the name.  However, they certainly add a certain flare to my lashes and look very natural.  If I would wear a pair daily, I think this pair would do the trick. The babies were very light which is nice because if a pair of lashes is too heavy it can drive you nuts! If your eye is small (like mine) this pair of lashes would be a great choice for you!
Jennifer and I felt like the 105 eyelashes were very "Kim Kardashian" on me.  They definitely make my eyes pop and stand out.  However they are big lashes.  I think Halloween would be the only time I would wear these ones.  They tickled my eye lid so either they were too big for my eye or they just are big girl lashes, lol.  They were also pretty heavy on my eye--I could definitely feel them every time I blinked.  You can trim the lashes down to fit your eye shape so I could do that too.  If you are looking for your eyes to be the central focus of your look or you have a exciting event planned, try the 105 lashes out!
Individual lashes are an interesting concept.  You get to be the creator if you will.  For this look, Jen used three long lashes and three medium lashes.  They were the most comfortable as I couldn't even feel them on my eye at all.  That was the nice touch about them.  However, I didn't care for the look we achieved with them.  At this point I think I would rather wear a whole strip instead.  However, if you had semi-thick or thicker lashes I could see how these would be cool to just add some dimension to your eye.
I also wanted to show you a pair of lashes on one eye with the other eye untouched.  The left eye has one coat of thin mascara while the right eye is wearing the Wispies (my fav!!!).  Can't you see how they just change the appearance of my is love between the lashes and I for sure!

If you have any other requests on certain eyelashes, brands, numbers, etc. please leave us a comment.  We had such a good time making this first round, we would LOVE to do another one.  Plus, the more looks that are out there, have to be even MORE helpful, right? We think so! Most importantly, get to PINNING us so we can help girls out there who are looking for this exact pin! :)
